It’s your generosity – above and beyond the tuition – that allows ISA to truly shine, and I wanted to share some information about the way philanthropy works at our school. The good news is that there are multiple ways of enriching your child’s school experience. The trick is that with so many options on the table, things can get confusing. So, here’s my best, most concise effort to help bring some clarity to our approach. Of course, if you have any follow-up questions, I’m always available for a chat, and rest assured that you will be hearing more about fundraising in the near future.
We ask that every member of our community give to the Annual Fund every year.
First off, it’s tax-deductible. But more importantly, it enables ISA to continue to set the standard in the area, and to distinguish itself as one of the most unique and respected schools in Arizona. Typically, 100% of our faculty and staff give each year to the Annual Fund, as do 100% of our Trustees, and 75% of our current parents. We’d like to see that last number – parent participation – go higher still. A gift to the Annual Fund is a vote of confidence for what we’re doing here. Gifts range from $50 to $25,000+ – and all are greatly appreciated.
ISA is a non-profit entity, which means that every year, we aim to run a balanced budget – in contrast to other entities that are looking to turn a profit on their business model and report only to investors. It also means that in exchange for not having to abide by state and federal guidelines on education, we do not receive any state or federal funds. Because of that, we charge our families tuition, which covers the vast majority of our annual expenses here at school – from faculty salaries to the air conditioning bill.
The reality is that tuition covers what we need to do to educate your kids, but it doesn’t cover everything we want to do. I can hire enough teachers and make sure we have enough desks, and I can take good care of the existing facilities with the tuition dollars we collect. But I cannot offer unique co-curricular programs and I cannot hire an extra teacher who will take your child’s experience form an A to an A+ without extra funding. That’s where the Annual Fund comes in.
Arizona Private School Tax Credit
Arizona offers its residents and select corporations an opportunity to redirect a portion of their Arizona tax obligation in support of the financial aid program of their favorite independent school – ISA. Participants then receive a dollar-for-dollar credit against their Arizona income taxes. There are a number of Student Tuition Organizations (STO) that provide resources and training to support your efforts in taking advantage of this unique opportunity. The ISA community has been well-supported by Arizona Tuition Connection with onsite training, customized print materials, fast online chat service, and more.
ISA is honored to be remembered in the legacy of its families and friends. There are many options to leave a legacy, including
